Comparison

Shoptimised alternative: how SKULayer compares

Shoptimised sells Google Shopping feed software wrapped in a human services layer: account management, managed services, and CSS delivery. SKULayer is a different model: self-serve software at a fraction of the price, previews before every change, and your own AI assistant as an optional interface. This page sets the two side by side, every claim taken from a public source and last checked in July 2026.

The short answer

Choose SKULayer for self-serve feed software with published pricing, previews before every change and optional operation through your AI assistant. Choose Shoptimised when CSS delivery or a managed feed service is part of the requirement.

Where the two differ

The operating model

Shoptimised
Software plus a human services layer: account management, business development, and a managed service from £500 a month. Their own line is "Intelligent Software Powered by People". The software has a self-serve trial too.
SKULayer
Self-serve software, built to be usable without a specialist or a managed tier. Connect a feed, run the audit, fix it yourself, or let the AI assistant you already use do the tedious part, preview-first.

Buying it

Shoptimised
Four published tiers from £119.99 to £499.99 a month (checked July 2026), priced by user logins (10 to 60) and optimised output feeds (3 to 50, £10 a month per extra feed past 50), with unlimited products per feed and a 14-day trial. Every tier includes their Premium Google CSS and performance rules.
SKULayer
Three flat prices: £29, £79, and £99 a month, priced by pooled SKUs rather than per output feed, with unlimited feeds and clients on Agency. Our top tier costs less than their second tier. Sign up without a card.

How you pay for results

Shoptimised
Their Incremental Sales service is performance-priced: a percentage of revenue they attribute to products they target.
SKULayer
A flat monthly fee. SKULayer never runs campaigns over your account, never takes a share of revenue, and never needs an attribution model you have to take on trust. The audit shows before and after, check by check, and you judge it.

The audit

Shoptimised
In-platform auditing across titles, categories, descriptions, product types, missing attributes, and identifiers, producing a prioritized issue list. A free public audit tool runs a similar scan for prospects.
SKULayer
An audit with a severity ladder and per-issue guidance on what each problem costs and how to fix it, a source-versus-delivered comparison that shows what your rules actually fixed, and, with Merchant Center connected, Google's own issue verdicts tracked from found to cleared.

Changing the feed safely

Shoptimised
Product edits in a grid and rules that apply across the catalogue. We found no publicly documented preview-before-apply step, rule version history, or rollback.
SKULayer
Every change, from a bulk rule to a one-field manual edit, is previewed against your real items before it saves. You get full history and one-click rollback to any version that ran cleanly, and your live feed only changes when a new version passes every check.

What the rules act on

Shoptimised
Rules driven by Google Ads data at SKU level (cost, conversions, revenue, ROAS, clicks, refreshed daily) that can label, segment, or exclude products automatically.
SKULayer
SKULayer acts on your feed data and on Google's own Merchant Center verdicts: the titles, categories, attributes, and identifiers that decide whether a product shows at all and how well it matches a search.

Your own AI as the interface

Shoptimised
We found no publicly documented way to operate their platform from your own AI assistant.
SKULayer
An MCP server. Connect Claude or another client and an agent can read the audit, read Merchant Center issues, draft a fix, show you the preview, and run the feed, from a chat, including on your phone. Writes are permissioned, preview-first, and revocable.

Channels

Shoptimised
Around 40 integrations across marketplaces, social, and affiliate channels, plus one-click feed duplication between them.
SKULayer
Two outputs, built deep: Google Shopping XML and Meta CSV, compiled from one clean catalogue. That is where ecommerce ad spend sits, and both get our full attention.

Who should pick which

Pick SKULayer if your spend is on Google Shopping and Meta, you want to see the price before you talk to anyone, you want every change previewed and reversible rather than trusted, and you like the idea of your own AI assistant reading the audit and drafting the fixes while you keep the approval.

Pick Shoptimised if you want CSS delivery or a team to run the feeds for you.

Run both on the same source feed and compare the outputs; nothing conflicts, and each serves its own delivery URL.

Switching questions

Is SKULayer a good Shoptimised alternative?

SKULayer is self-serve feed software at a flat published price: an audit that tells you what each issue costs and how to fix it, a preview against your real items before any change saves, full history and one-click rollback, and an MCP server so the AI assistant you already use can do the tedious part while you keep the approval. If what you are buying is CSS delivery or a managed service with a named account manager, look at Shoptimised instead.

How much does Shoptimised cost compared with SKULayer?

Shoptimised publishes four software tiers, checked in July 2026: In-House at £119.99 a month (10 users, 3 output feeds), Small at £229.99 (20 users, 10 feeds), Medium at £399.99 (40 users, 30 feeds), and Large at £499.99 (60 users, 50 feeds), with £10 a month per extra feed past 50. Their managed feed service starts at £500 a month, and their Incremental Sales service is priced as a share of attributed revenue. SKULayer is £29, £79, or £99 a month: our Starter is roughly a quarter of their entry price, and our top tier, with unlimited clients and feeds, costs less than their second tier. Every price on both sides is published, so you can check the sum yourself.

Can I migrate from Shoptimised to SKULayer?

Yes, and without risk to the live feed. Point SKULayer at the same source feed, run the audit, and rebuild your rules; SKULayer serves in parallel on its own delivery URL, so nothing changes for Google or Meta until you compare outputs and switch the URL in Merchant Center yourself. Keep both running until you are satisfied.

Does SKULayer take a percentage of sales?

No. SKULayer is a flat monthly fee, never a share of revenue, and it never runs ad campaigns over your account. If a tool is paid on revenue it attributes to itself, you are trusting its attribution; we would rather show you the before and after and let you judge.

How do you keep this comparison fair?

Every claim about Shoptimised here comes from their own public website or another named public source, and each one is date-stamped: last checked in July 2026. We publish nothing about them we cannot point you at. Products change. If a line here is out of date or wrong, email hello@skulayer.com and we will correct it.
